CHN Energy achieved outstanding results in 2024, setting new records across multiple key performance indicators, according to a press conference held by the group recently.
In the year of 2024, CHN Energy’s coal production reached 620 million tons, with sales reaching 850 million tons; power generation exceeded 1.25 trillion kilowatt-hours for the first time, while thermal energy output reached 570 million gigajoules;railway freight volume totaled 570 million tons, and investments reached 265.6 billion RMB. The ggroup successfully met all 10 primary production and operational targets, with 14 key indicators reaching record levels, solidifying its position as a world-class enterprise.
In technological innovation, CHN Energy leveraged its integrated coal-electricity-chemical-transportation capabilities to achieve breakthroughs in key core technologies. Notable achievements include the successful deployment of China's first unmanned transportation robot for open-pit coal mines, enhancing automation and safety in coal transportation; the commissioning of Guoneng Sharing, the world's first integrated wind-fish floating platform, offering a new model for combining offshore wind power and fisheries; the successful application of coal-based aerospace kerosene in various aerospace applications, expanding clean coal utilization; the deployment of the first batch of lightweight trucks made from carbon fiber composite materials, reducing vehicle weight and energy consumption; and the recognition of a new intelligent heavy-duty electric locomotive as one of the top ten key national projects among state-owned enterprises, improving railway transportation efficiency.
groupCHN Energy actively supported the national Two Key Areas policy and “Two New”policies by implementing its Year of Major Project Management initiative. Traditional industries underwent transformation and revitalization, with 72% of mines achieving green mine status at the provincial level or higher, and nine national intelligent demonstration coal mines established. Renewable energy development also saw historic breakthroughs, with both newly initiated and commissioned capacity exceeding 30 million kilowatts. Installed renewable energy capacity now exceeds 40% of the total, double the level at the end of the 13th Five-year Plan, achieving the 14th Five-year Plan goals a year ahead of schedule. New energy projects totaling 31.18 million kilowatts were initiated, and 27.73 million kilowatts were commissioned to reach a record high. Hydropower capacity surpassed 20 million kilowatts, with 8.24 million kilowatts under construction, leading the nation in conventional hydropower development.
Looking ahead to 2025, CHN Energy will prioritize ensuring energy security, maintaining stable coal resources, and increasing coal reserves and production. The group will steadily promote the development of supporting coal-fired power and heating networks, deepen the "three reforms linkage + low-carbon transformation" in coal power, and develop next-generation coal power demonstration projects. The group will also focus on improving the quality and efficiency of major projects, pursuing high efficiency, high quality and low cost, actively expanding effective investments, and strengthening resource acquisition and construction for offshore wind power and large-scale wind-solar bases to drive its green, low-carbon transformation and support the high-quality development of China's energy sector.
